Markers place single points on the map for findings, meeting points, observations, checkpoints or saved coordinates.

Tools Menu
The tools menu starts actions that create map objects or prepare measurements. Many tools first ask for a source: coordinates, existing objects or your current GPS position.
Markers place single points on the map for findings, meeting points, observations, checkpoints or saved coordinates.
Distance measures the line between two points. Select the first point and then the second point.
Bearings create direction lines for courses, observations and target narrowing.
Areas mark polygons for search zones, work areas, parcels, hazard zones or mapped terrain. In Pro, post and fence estimates can also be calculated from the details of areas and circles.
Circle draws a radius around a center point. The menu shows the current default radius, for example 200 m.
Visibility helps describe the relevant field of view or observation area from a point.
Submenus can be sorted by frequently used tools, so the most important actions for your workflow stay easier to reach.
Marker, photo, note and audio
Open Marker to choose a position. To the right of the position options, the same submenu contains Photo, Note and Audio. These actions create a geotagged marker without permanently occupying space on the main screen.

Pan, zoom or rotate the map under a fixed crosshair. Coordinates follow the point at the centre; once the map stops, available information from the active map slot appears.
Precise marker placement with a crosshair
The crosshair mode complements the fast map tap. The map moves under a screen-fixed reticle; its geographic centre becomes the later marker position.


Crosshair placement is available in Free and needs no location permission while only moving the map. Map alignment, source and zoom determine visual accuracy. GPS averaging and remeasurement remain Pro features.
Context at the map centre
When the map becomes stable, the panel shows a short, limited preview of information available at the exact centre.
DD, DMS, UTM and other selected formats each use one row. Their localised long names remain available to screen readers.
Only sources in the active map slot are queried: Mapsforge and InfoTap-enabled OGC API Features, WFS, WMS or WMTS layers.
Only queryable map objects or FeatureInfo data are shown. XYZ, TMS and raster sources without an information interface do not produce invented attributes.
The check mark opens the marker dialog. Cancel or Back preserves the point; X exits, while a successful save creates exactly one marker.
Coordinates and local Mapsforge data work offline. Remote information is requested only for active sources through the existing protected clients. A service failure never blocks marker placement.

Add multiple vertices from the map, coordinates, objects or GPS.
With at least three points, the app creates an area with outline and size.
Manage the area in the object browser, including visibility, export and deletion.
Open the details of an area or circle to calculate post spacing, number of strands, estimated fence length, post count and strand length.

Circles make distance around one point easier to judge.
Manual
ViewRange calculates terrain visibility in a 360° full circle around an observation point; it does not use one selected viewing direction.
Activate HGT, DEM GeoTIFF, ASC or DTED data in the current map context before starting.
Choose 1–10 km and Fast, Standard or High quality. A larger or finer calculation needs more time and power.
Partial elevation coverage produces an incomplete result; save the temporary result as a project object only after checking it.
Markers and measurements
Markers, area points, bearings and ViewRange can store and display GPS/RTK quality data when the device supplies it. For freely placed markers, MapTools adds a terrain elevation while saving if active elevation data is available. Marker positions can also be averaged from a series of position measurements for more reproducible point documentation.

Depending on the tool, points can come from coordinates, existing objects, the GPS position or the marker crosshair. Icons now match the app buttons; plain workflow steps do not receive invented icons.

Measure bearing A, move to a second position, measure B and inspect baseline, intersection angle, quality and uncertainty.
Calculate a full-circle terrain view with active elevation data; direction is not a user setting.
Current functionality
Geodata Search combines local POIs with enabled WFS and OGC feature layers. Search, source scope, category and radius are chosen deliberately; “No radius” removes the distance filter. A selected POI first opens a compact action view for map, target, marker and sharing.
