Open Live → Search grid and select an existing area or circle. If none exists, create it with the Tools menu first.

Search grid and Area Search
A search grid divides an existing area or circle into cells. MapTools marks visited cells from the GPS position and shows coverage and remaining cells.
Workflow
Prepare, start and complete a search
Create the source geometry first, choose a sensible cell size and decide between the normal grid and the simplified field view.
Set the cell size
Small cells give more detail but increase the cell count and should not be smaller than the practical GPS accuracy.
Free and Pro
Free allows one grid with 5–25 m cells, no more than 10 × 10 cells and 250 m edge length. Pro allows several grids, 1–100 m cells and up to 10,000 cells.
Normal grid or Area Search
The normal view provides every detail control. Area Search uses a large coverage display with only pause and finish controls.
Read active coverage
The panel shows covered and remaining cells, cell size and GPS accuracy. Pro can also display fixed or dynamic coverage strips.
Pause, finish or reset
Pause stops automatic recording, Finish closes the active field view, and Reset clears visited cells while retaining the source object and grid.
Accuracy and limits
Coverage is a technical indicator
A visited cell only means that the reported device position reached it. Obstacles, real visual coverage and professional search procedures are not evaluated completely.
GPS can drift near buildings, in forest or valleys. Check the active status after locking the screen or changing apps, plan battery reserve and follow local procedures and operational leadership.
