Navigation Menu

Navigation menu entries

The navigation menu collects everything that guides you to a target or records your movement.

Target

Starts navigation to a point, coordinate or object and keeps direction, distance and course context visible.

Tracking

Records your movement as a track for tours, searches, documentation and later review.

Route

Creates or edits a route with several waypoints for planned movement.

Follow route

Guides you along an existing route so you can stay close to the planned line.

Note: During route navigation, MapTools shows distance, direction and an estimated remaining time. If the device provides a valid GPS speed, the time is calculated from the current movement. If no reliable speed is available yet, for example directly after starting or in the emulator, the app shows an estimated walking time. It is marked with “≈” and is based on about 5 km/h. As soon as a real movement speed is detected, the app automatically uses the measured speed and shows “~”.

AR mode

Opens an augmented camera view to compare targets, points and directions with the real environment.

Manual Quickstart

Follow route

Follow route

The “Follow route” entry starts an existing route as guidance or as quiet route monitoring.

Two-step start

First choose route and direction, then choose instructions or monitoring, ETA display, corridor and warning mode.

Compact display

Only the next relevant cue remains visible on the map: direction arrow, distance and optional estimated time. Monitoring mode shows “Route” or the current deviation.

Warnings

Off-route warnings can be acknowledged. They are not stacked and disappear once you are back on the route.
