Practice
Cross Bearing
Combine several bearings to narrow down a target area.
Workflow
Typical Flow
Use these steps to complete the workflow on the map.
- Step 1Set the first observation point
- Step 2Save the bearing direction
- Step 3Add a second point with another bearing
- Step 4Check and document the intersection
Update
Guided cross bearing for distance work
Cross bearing is described as a more guided workflow: choose suitable bearings, circles or measurement objects, calculate intersections and save plausible results as markers.
- Create one or more bearings, for example from the current viewing direction, LiveView, coordinates, objects or Here (GPS).
- Combine two suitable objects in the intersection calculation. For distance work this can also be a bearing with a circle or several bearings.
- Check the calculated intersection on the map and save it as a marker, target or further working object when useful.
